01 - Background
BannerWright is an AI banner generator you can run on your own. You write a short brief, tell it about your brand, and it produces editable banners you can download as images in one click. It is built to run privately for a single team, and it is free and open source, so any studio can host its own in-house banner factory.
02 - How it was built
The app is built with Next.js and TypeScript, backed by a PostgreSQL database that remembers each brand's look and voice so results stay on-brand over time. Google's Gemini models handle the creative work, from writing the copy to generating the imagery. The trickiest part was turning those AI-designed layouts into clean, downloadable image files: the banners are assembled as real web pages and then rendered to pixel-perfect images in the background, so what you preview is exactly what you download.
03 - Outcome
A marketer can now put together a full set of on-brand banners without booking a designer for every campaign. There is a live version anyone can try, and the whole project is free and open source, so teams can also run their own copy.
